Reckless Recruits: Part Time Xero Bookkeeper

We are a growing business in the digital sector who have recently established a number of new subsidiary companies within fulfilment and e-commerce.

Our core business has around 28 staff and we employ a further 5-10 in the other areas of the business, and we expect this to grow over the coming months and years!

We are looking for a part-time Xero specialist to come in and take responsibility for the accounting and maintenance of the books and usual bookkeeping tasks.

We’re looking for someone to take charge of the upkeep of our accounts: we need a steady head who’s not flustered by having to work across a number of organisations.

We see this as a 3 day a week role but it will increase as our other businesses grow.

Key Responsibilities within the role

  • Ensuring all supplier invoices have the appropriate approvals
  • Sales invoicing
  • Ensure accuracy of postings to correct ledgers
  • Validating and posting our VAT returns
  • Working with our invoice finance company and our account managers to ensure our debtors’ book is kept clean and verified 
  • Reviewing staff expenses, ensuring all back-up and approvals are provided, and correctly coded to projects and chart of accounts
  • Processing supplier invoices and staff expenses in accordance with policies
  • Credit control
  • Processing supplier payments
  • Journal postings, accruals and prepayments, intercompany accounts
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Uploading payment runs for approvals
  • Supporting the SMT and CEO in the housekeeping of control accounts and month-end close
  • Handling daily communications with suppliers
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reports
  • Analyse all accounting records and ensure financial data is reliable and gives a true and fair view of the financial position
  • Support the SMT and CEO with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the finance department

  • Possessing relevant qualification or qualification by experience
  • Expert in Xero essential
  • A passion for detail
  • Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Integrity and professional ethics
  • Diligent and able to work on your own initiative
  • Excellent organisational skills and a great multi-tasker
  • Be able to prioritise and manage work without losing attention to details
